it's interesting seeing her hair growing out. while unkempt, it looks like she's relaxing and perhaps healing. her eye change around the doc makes her look a bit more childish.
the murder is pretty shocking; i assumed the doc just knocked that guy out. seems like a dark thing to gloss over but maybe it'll get explored in upcoming entries
edit: i thought notes in the blood pool were just a cool artistic choice. well bozo won't be missed
Ah, but in https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/handofdog/at-tan-meets-doctor in the blood of the dog there is implied death with the music sheet for Harold Arlen's "Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead". Older fairy tales and princess stories are often filled with dark elements, death, and life goes on in them in a childlike way- so for At-tan story it's to be like this.
My comic moves at a snail's pace a little because I draw mostly everything by hand and often busy, so it takes a while to get to explore things or if they're to be explored at all. But that's no problem for me, just mentioning as an explanation/head's up.
*Edit: It's all good, it wasn't very obvious. Some things are meant to be unexplained or puzzling like a survival horror game- and then it can be pieced together or theorized.
not sure if intentional, but i feel like cartoony proportions make this realistic rendering and disturbing subject matter feel a lot more unsettling. perhaps it's the exaggerated facial expressions that give me that uncanny valley feel; it's like i'm seeing a distorted, manic version of reality. also i really enjoy the writing under these pictures
Hello. Thank you for your generous rating & comment.
The effect you're describing did not begin as intentional, but I recognize it's quite a distinctive element of the artwork and I am glad it is evocative. Unsettling is definitely the feeling I am going for. Art is like thia-mania, possessing and consuming; I sometimes find myself twisting and pulling similarly dramatic expressions as I draw.
I'm happy you like my stream of consciousness diatribes as well. Thank you again.
